What Makes a Premium Mattress?
Many people wonder what the difference is between a budget mattress and premium mattress, besides cost. They want to know if buying a premium mattress is really worth it. Will it promote sounder sleep? Are the materials better for people and the planet? Do premium mattresses outlast budget mattresses?
The answer to all of these questions is YES! But, there are specific reasons why premium is better than budget, and each buyer has to decide if those reasons make personal financial sense given the associated cost. We know this, though. You’ll absolutely love a premium mattress.
So, what makes a mattress a premium mattress?
Better Structural Componentry
Whether you’re looking for a memory foam, latex or innerspring mattress, you’ll find budget and quality versions. With premium mattresses, the structural componentry is superior. For instance, premium foam mattresses have a high-density foam base that distributes body weight evenly. Premium gel infused memory foam mattresses not only conform beautifully to the contours of your body, they reduce heat buildup so you sleep at the ideal temperature.
Innerspring mattresses that are premium mattresses often have encased coils. This means that each of the coils, or springs, is individually wrapped in some kind of textile, which reduces the motion of transfer and helps you sleep more soundly. Also, premium innerspring mattresses typically have tempered coils (the manufacturer heats and then cools the coils) to help seal their shape and make the mattress more durable. Usually, premium mattresses have more coils for more stability and comfort.
If you’re considering premium latex mattresses, you’ll find that these high-end mattresses use botanical latex that resists body heat accumulation. There are small holes in the latex that allow cool air to flow throughout. This offers an extremely comfortable sleep. Plus, latex is conforming to the body and very supportive. Premium latex really is a superb material for structuring a mattress.
High-End Upholstery
All mattresses are covered in some type of upholstery. But, the fabric used for premium mattresses is carefully chosen to contribute to the overall comfort of the product. And, it’s usually layered for extra softness or combined with foam to give additional support.
Premium mattress upholstery consists of the highest quality foams and textiles, such as cotton (sometimes organic cotton), bamboo and other natural fibers. The premium mattresses that we sell at Mattress Merchants are all chosen specifically because their upholstery fabrics have been independently tested. We select only mattresses made to the highest standards with quality, health and safety in mind. All of the premium mattresses in our Brisbane showroom are certified for raw, finished and semi-finished textile products at all processing levels.
Superior Fabric Covers
Premium mattress covers are typically made with quality polyester, combined with high-end textiles like cotton (sometimes organic), bamboo and other natural fibers. In contrast to budget mattress covers that are typically sewn together according to basic standards, premium mattress covers are made with great eye to detail and they usually look more pleasing.
Premium mattresses also are sometimes flippable, which means you can sleep on both sides of the mattresses. Turning and flipping premium mattresses helps prolong their life and give you greater comfort.
Mattress Merchants sells a range of premium mattresses in our Brisbane showroom and online. Ambiance by Milly is one of our premium high-density foam mattresses featuring a Gel Memory Foam interior layer that conforms to the body and reduces heat buildup. Our Bamboo Indulgence premium mattress is a posturepedic mattress offering 3 comfort zones and made with natural bamboo fabric.
